Kevin Hart on why he will never host the Oscars
Popular comedian/ actor, Kevin Hart has opened up on his hesitancy to hosting the prestigious Academy Awards; the Oscars.
Speaking exclusively to Sky News, Hart expressed his comfort performing stand-up in arenas and stadiums but acknowledged the discomfort posed by an audience comprised of Hollywood’s elite.
Hart, known for his infectious humor and successful career in stand-up comedy, admitted that the Oscars got it right in 2019, the year he withdrew from hosting duties.
During that year, the ceremony employed a diverse group of personalities to cohost the event, a departure from the traditional single-host format.
In his conversation with Sky News, Hart acknowledged the advantage he would have as a host due to his established relationships with many of the high-profile guests.
However, he emphasized the distinct challenges that come with entertaining a room full of A-listers.
The comedian’s initial appointment as the host for the 2019 Oscars faced a significant hurdle when past homophobic tweets resurfaced, triggering a wave of controversy.
Despite deleting the contentious posts, the backlash prompted Kevin Hart to step down from the hosting role.
Reflecting on that decision, Hart acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation and opted to prioritize the harmony of the event over personal aspirations.
While the comedian remains a force in the entertainment industry, it seems the Oscars stage may not be the platform he’s eager to return to.
