Kemi Adeosun, resurfaces years after her resignation

Kemi Adeosun, a former Minister of Finance in Nigeria, over the weekend, resurfaced at an event in Lagos, two years after she resigned from office.

In November 2015, Adeosun Kemi was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Finance by President Muhammadu Buhari. After officially being non-partisan throughout her career, Kemi Adeosun joined Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), on 5th of May, 2018.

However, Kemi Adeosun was forced to tender her resignation letter as Nigeria’s Finance Minister in September 2018 following the NYSC scandal she was enmeshed in.

TopNaija has earlier reported how Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo recently commended Kemi Adeosun, Nigeria’s ex-finance minister, for her DashMe initiative.

In July of 2018, a report by a National daily claimed she never partook in the mandatory one-year scheme which is a prerequisite to take a government portfolio.

Over the weekend, she attended an event attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

On 7 July 2018, Nigerian online newspaper Premium Times alleged that Kemi Adeosun had illegally obtained her NYSC exemption certificate to get into public office. On 9th July, NYSC Director of Press and Public relations Adeyemi Adenike released a statement that confirmed that Adeosun legitimately submitted a request for an exemption certificate, but also stated that investigations were still ongoing to verify the approval of the exemption certificate.

On 14th of September,2018, Adeosun resigned as Minister of Finance in a written letter to the President due to the alleged NYSC Certificate forgery scandal.
