The Katsina State Police Command has saved Fadimawa village of Kurfi Local Government Area of the state from a terrorist attack.

The Spokesman for the Katsina police command, Gambo Isah, confirmed the development on Friday.

The terrorists reportedly invaded the village in the early hours of Thursday at 1:00 am and stole an unspecified number of animals.

Alerted of the terrorist attack, the police in Kurfi reportedly moved to the village and engaged the terrorists in a gun duel, during which all the rustled animals were recovered.

Confirming the incident, Isah said, “On January 27, 2022, at about 1:00 am, terrorist-bandits in their numbers, attacked Fadimawa village, Kurfi LGA and rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals.

“DPO in Kurfi led a team of policemen to the scene and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel.

“The operational strategy and gallantry displayed by the team made them overpower the hoodlums and recovered all the stolen animals.

“Many of the terrorists have escaped with bullet injuries. Search parties are still combing the nearby bushes with a view to arresting the hoodlums and/or recovering their dead bodies. An investigation is ongoing”.
