Karma hits Haaland after mockery of Arteta thanks to Brighton

The football world is currently laughing at Erling Haaland and Manchester City after his mockery of Mikel Arteta some months back, comes to bite the Cityzens in their defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The defeat away at the Amex Stadium continuous their streak of winless run in all competitions, making it 4-defeats on the bounce since their loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.

In a dramatic twist of irony, Erling Haaland in the heated fixture between Manchester City and Arsenal, made an infamous “stay humble” dig at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta after the Gunners had surrendered a 2-1 lead at the death.

The dig comes back to haunt him after Brighton’s 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City.

Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton’s new manager, mirrored Haaland’s words after the match, urging his players to “stay humble” following their biggest victory of the season.

It was a hard-fought battle that saw City lead for much of the game thanks to Haaland’s early strike. But in a stunning final act, Brighton snatched three points with late goals from Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley, sending City into their fourth consecutive defeat.

Hurzeler’s comment sparked plenty of reaction online, with fans interpreting his “stay humble” reminder as a playful nod to Haaland’s own words back in September.

Then, after City’s tense draw with Arsenal, Haaland infamously told Arteta to “stay humble” before tensions erupted further on the pitch.

Now, with Hurzeler’s version echoing back on City, fans are celebrating the new Brighton boss for getting the “last laugh” on Haaland, who was powerless to prevent the Seagulls’ comeback.

On social media, one fan captured the moment perfectly: “Hurzeler’s calm dig at Haaland is the kind of banter the Premier League needs.”
