Kano LG poll: NNPP wins 44 chairmanships, 484 councillorship seats
The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has declared the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) the winner of all 44 local government chairmanships and the 484 councillorship positions in Saturday’s local government election in the state.
TopNaija News reports that KANSIEC Chairman, Sani Malumfashi announced the results at the commission’s headquarters, declaring NNPP the winner in all contested areas.
The election saw participation from six political parties and was conducted peacefully across the state.
During a press briefing, Malumfashi commended the smooth conduct of the process, emphasizing that no incidents of violence or electoral malpractice were reported.
“We are pleased to declare that the NNPP has secured all chairmanship and councillorship positions across Kano’s 44 local government areas. The election was orderly and transparent, with no reported incidents of violence,” Malumfashi stated.
Observers have lauded the election as a milestone for Kano, applauding the effective organization and security measures that contributed to an incident-free electoral process.
