A tailor, Lucy Jacob, has appeared before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court for allegedly selling her customer’s lace materials worth N65,000.

The 33-year-old defendant, who resides at Sabon Tasha, Kaduna is charged with breach of trust and cheating.

Jacob pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court on Thursday that the complainant, Ms. Sarah Victor, took her lace materials worth N65,000 to the defendant’s shop in December of 2022, but the defendant sold the materials.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant, who promised to refund the money in installments, however, reneged on her promise.

Leo told the court that during a police investigation, the defendant allegedly confessed to having sold the material to another customer.

According to the prosecutor, the offense contravenes the provision of sections 339 and 321 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
