JUST IN: 4-storey building collapses in Yaba, humans trapped

A four-story building still under construction on Akanbi Crescent in the Yaba area of Lagos has collapsed, TopNaija can confirm.

Based on our findings, there are possible human beings stuck in the building which collapsed onto another building beside it.

According to an eyewitness, a part of the building had collapsed late last year, but the construction did not stop regardless.

Many of the documented cases of building collapse in Nigeria are due to the use of defective or substandard building materials, no requisite technical knowledge, non- adherence to building codes and standards, the use of non-professionals and the high level of corruption which has ravaged every sphere of the country.
