Judges’ Arrest- NJC Condemns Actions Of DSS

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has condemned the invasion of the houses of two Supreme Court Justices, and two Federal High Court judges in Abuja by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Saturday.

The latest condemnation by the NJC follows the declaration of a State of emergency in the judiciary by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) over the arrest of the judges.

Soji Oye, Acting Director media and publicity of the NJC who spoke with Business Day condemned the act, saying that the DSS might just have over reached it’s boundary, and might be driving it’s self into trouble.

” The action of the DSS may not be unconnected with its desire of not wanting Justice Walter Onnoghen to succeed the outgoing CJN, Justice Mahmoud Muhammed. A source in the NJC disclosed.
