Jude Bellingham Rages Over Chelsea Favor Against Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham expressed his frustration at Chelsea’s controversial retaken penalty during their Champions League last-16 tie, while also highlighting Kai Havertz’s slow run-up.

Chelsea overturned a 1-0 aggregate deficit to win 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, with Raheem Sterling and Havertz scoring the goals that took them through to the quarter-finals.

Havertz’s penalty was retaken after VAR called for a second look due to encroachment, with the German successfully scoring on the second attempt after missing the initial effort. However, Bellingham labeled the situation a “joke,” stating that players will encroach when there is a slow run-up.

Despite the disappointment with the result, Jude Bellingham has been in sensational form this season and has been highly praised by pundits such as Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher.

The Arsenal legend called him a “complete” player who is always looking to feed his strikers and get the ball back, while the former Liverpool defender compared him to Steven Gerrard and expressed his hope that Liverpool can sign him in the summer. Whether or not Bellingham will move to Liverpool remains to be seen.

“I’ve not seen the incident back. From where I was, it looked pretty close. I can’t see where he can go with the hands. It’s a yard or two away…,” Jude Bellingham said after the game.

“The fact they’ve had a replay, it’s a joke. When you have such a slow run-up, people will encroach. That’s the game I suppose and he’s made a decision.”
