Liverpool’s captain, Jordan Henderson has been blamed for former teammate, Sadio Mane’s exit from the club, and the blame comes with a twist.

Football analyst, Jamie O’Hara faulted the skipper’s silence in the whole saga as he felt the player should have done everything he could to keep the Senegalese at the club.

O’Hara considers Mane a very vital piece in Liverpool’s potent threat; in attack or defense and letting him go to Bayern Munich without a fight was very much a mistake.

The ex-midfielder feels the Anfield side made a ‘mistake’ selling the star and he is ‘amazed’ they let such a pivotal player head for the exit door.

The deal seemingly went through because the Liverpool board felt they had suitable replacements in new stars, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

But, whilst there is promise in them, it doessn’t hide the pressure they will be faced with in replacing the proven qualities, performances and goals of Sadio Mane.

“I am amazed that they have allowed him to leave,” O’Hara was quoted as saying.

“He is still an unbelievable player. He is still one of the best players in the world.

“I can’t believe they didn’t think about giving him the money that he deserves. When you are a top player and you are seeing players on £300k and £400k-a-week, even with those astronomical fees, Mane deserves to be on that money as well.

“If they aren’t going to pay him the money, then somebody else will. So, he needs to know his worth. Getting into his 30s, so it’s one more big contract for him. I think it’s a massive loss for Liverpool. He is almost irreplaceable. I know they have brought in Nunez. I think it’s a mistake Liverpool have let him go.

“I would be saying ‘Mane we need you’. We have been so successful, missed out on the quad last season, but they have to go again. If I was Jordan Henderson, then I would have been desperate to keep him at the football club. But when a player has had his head turned, and he doesn’t feel his valued enough, then it’s hard to stop someone from leaving.”

Sadio Mane leaving the Reds will continue being a much talked about topic till the new season begins, and even to the actual season.

It remains to be seen if the deal works out for both parties or just one in the end.
