John Cena goes nude at the Oscars

The Oscars had a John Cena story to tell for anyone willing to listen.

Well, if it isn’t the Oscars, then it isn’t the Oscars, and of course, a celebrity has to lit the ceremony for the academy award event to be dramatic.

Some years prior, it was the famous slap gate involving Will Smith and Chris Rock, and now, it appears former wrestler turned actor, John Cena had to make his own move for the trends.

It is nothing personal, just John Cena doing John Cena things at the Oscars.

At the 96th Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, all eyes were on WWE star and actor John Cena as he made a memorable appearance on stage.

The 46-year-old was invited by host Jimmy Kimmel to present the Best Costume Design award, and his entrance certainly turned heads.

The attention-grabbing moment was prompted by Kimmel’s reference to a historical incident from the Oscars’ past: the streaker named Robert Opel who famously ran onto the stage during the 1974 ceremony, surprising late actor-presenter David Niven.

Invoking this piece of Oscar lore, Kimmel joked, ‘Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today?’ before dramatically calling Cena onto the stage.

Backstage, Cena hesitated, whispering to Kimmel and expressing discomfort with the idea of performing the ‘streaker bit.’

Despite Kimmel’s insistence and comparisons to Cena’s wrestling persona, the actor stood his ground, citing the elegance of the event and refusing to participate in what he deemed a tasteless act.

Ultimately, Cena took the stage in a unique manner, sidestepping with the envelope for Best Costume Design discreetly covering his modesty.

In his brief speech, he emphasized the importance of costumes in filmmaking before humorously admitting his inability to open the envelope, prompting Kimmel to step in.

To cap off the unconventional presentation, Cena later donned a gold toga to present the award to Holly Waddington, the costume designer for “Poor Things.”

Well, Iron-Man did get his inevitable Oscar, it’s about time the Oscars got the ‘naked-man’ too.
