Jamie Carragher would hate to See Firmino Leave Liverpool

Could Robert Firmino actually leave Liverpool this summer or the next?

Former Liverpool star, Jamie Carragher is every Liverpool fan now regarding the many reports of Roberto Firmino leaving Liverpool.

The former defender turned pundit states that he would very much hate it if Firmino leaves Liverpool this summer even though the club gets a fee on him.

Jamie Carragher even states that compared to what the Brazilian has to offer this season, he wouldn’t mind if the club risked losing him on a free next summer.

Bobby Firmino as he is famously called by the Kop has 12 months left on his current deal with report that Juventus are offering to pay ‘£19 million’ for the player.

Though the number 9 faced a dip in form that saw him make less appearances last season, Firmino did show his class yet again while featuring against Manchester City in the 3-1 Community Shield win.

Opining his thoughts on the perceived interest, the Liverpool legend explains how much of an important player Firmino is and if he were to leave Liverpool, how it might hurt them.

“I don’t think it’s a risk losing him for nothing. I have felt for a couple of years now that Firmino would see this contract out and move on for nothing.” he said.

“I think getting £19 million or keeping Firmino next season, I would probably keep him. The situation Liverpool find themselves in. They don’t want to be caught short.

“I think Firmino will have a big role. Listen, Nunez might take time to settle and he is playing in the Premier League. And that’s not just about his ability, it’s about coming to a different league.

“So, I think Firmino could be really important this season and I think he might actually start the first few games of the season and I can imagine Nunez coming off the bench.

“I am not quite sure about the Juventus links. Obviously, we have spent a lot of money on a striker and Juventus play a 4-3-3, if I am not mistaken, so I couldn’t see Firmino playing wide or going there to be an understudy. The links, maybe true, I don’t know, but I would keep him.”
