Jamie Carragher mocks Man United signing

Man United signing of Argentine defender, Lisandro Martinez is something that has come under heavy criticisms from pundits.

And for Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, he considers it a mistake his old rivals shouldn’t have necessarily made in the transfer market.

The former defender points out the Martinez’s calamitous performance in the 4-0 humiliation by Brentford proved why it was all wrong to go after the defender in the first place.

The Man United signing found it very difficult coping with the opponent’s physicality in the two games he played for the club.

With Carragher believing Brentford found it quite easy against Manchester United considering goals rained from Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo to earn the Bees a victory against the Red Devils.

The dread of Lisandro Martinez performance was captured in Mee’s goal whereby the Brentford defender found it easy to tower above the Argentine in the set piece.

The defender’s height has been a subject of debate by pundits in the Premier League with the Man United signing standing at 5ft 9inches for a Centre Back.

And now, after the Brentford defeat, Carragher looks ready to dub the 24-year-old a flop considering the former Liverpool defender had earlier raised concerns over his height.

“…The signing of Martinez for over £50m already looks wrong,” the former Liverpool man tweeted.

“[5ft 9in] that’s small. That’s small for any player on the pitch in some ways now, really…” he told Sky Sports.
