JAMB releases 4,536 withheld results from #2019UTME

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of 4,536  withheld results of candidates who sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), TOPNAIJA.NG reports.

The release comes after a committee set up by the board to investigate 4,760 candidates who had their results held back owing to multiple facial matches with different names during the April exam.

The board also released the results of 231 candidates who sat for the exam at the Nigerian navy secondary school in Abeokuta, Ogun state, after allegations of their involvement in malpractice proved to be false.

While revealing that CBT centres have been suspended for subverting exam rules, JAMB said that the exoneration of candidates from malpractice allegations was backed by the “diligent” investigations of its IT and software experts.

Fabian Benjamin, a spokesperson of the board, added that 127 results would be further investigated while 97 others found to be involved in multiple registrations and other infractions would be withheld.

According to him, candidates whose results are subjected to further investigations would be contacted and made to appear before an investigation panel on the basis of pre-set arrangements.

“Candidates in the south-west would converge in Lagos at WAEC office, Yaba, Lagos, while those from Ibadan and Ekiti respectively would converge at the JAMB office in Ibadan, Oyo State,” Benjamin said.

“Candidates in the south-east zone would converge in Owerri, Imo State. Those in the north-east would be screened in Gombe JAMB office while north-west candidates would converge in Kaduna.

“Candidates from north-central states such as Kwara would converge on Ilorin, while those from Plateau, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja would converge on JAMB National Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja.”
