JAMB delays registration over NIN integration challenge

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made an apology for the delay to begin its registration exercise which it stated was “speculated” to commence on Thursday.

A statement issued on Thursday by the representative of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, declared that the delay was caused by some unexpected situations which resulted in its firm effort to have a National Identification Number (NIN) integration.

Benjamin stated, “To be sure, all processes are completed before the commencement, the Board didn’t place its advertorial as it was yet to complete the process of a smooth pin vending and candidate access to the registration app for the 2021 UTME/DE.

“The advertisement is the surest indication of the beginning of the exercise as it has all the step by step process that candidates are required to follow.

“However, this delay is caused by some unforeseen circumstances occasioned by our determined effort to have NIN integration.

“This challenge is being resolved and once that is done, all processes shall commence.

“Candidates are therefore requested to exercise some patience. The process shall be up and running shortly for our advertisement to be rollout so that candidates can begin the creation of profile.”

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is a Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions.

The board conducts entrance Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for prospective undergraduates into Nigerian universities.

JAMB is also charged with the responsibility to administer similar examinations for applicants to Nigerian public and private monotechnics, polytechnics, and colleges of educations.

All of these candidates must have obtained the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or its equivalent, National Examination Council (NECO).
