JAMB announces release date for 2023 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the release of the results for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will commence on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, Topnaija reports.

The board stated that it delayed the release to ensure that all necessary screenings were concluded, and to ensure that the mean and standard deviation are obtained before releasing the results.

Candidates who had challenges during the examination without being aware of it would not see their results but instead receive a notification for a rescheduled examination.

JAMB also rescheduled three categories of candidates who missed their examinations for mop-up examinations to be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

These categories of candidates include those who could not sit the exam within their scheduled time, those who could not be biometrically verified, and those with mismatched data.

The board had earlier rescheduled the conduct of the 2023 UTME from April 25 to May 2, 2023, and had announced its intention to use innovative methods to conduct the exam to reduce incidences of examination infractions.

The exercise recorded the lowest reported cases of infractions but was still faced with challenges due to human negligence, leading to some candidates being unable to sit for the exam on the first day.

Out of the 1,586,765 candidates who indicated an interest in taking the exam, only 80,166 are outstanding.

The board has fixed Saturday, May 6, 2023, for all categories of candidates who have not sat their examination to take their exam.

The JAMB management held an emergency meeting in Abuja over the weekend, where these decisions were made.

The board emphasized its commitment to ensuring that the examination process is transparent, fair, and credible.

Candidates who sat for the exam can check their results on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
