Ivan Toney Took The Manchester City Game Personal For The Right Reasons

Some games mean more than the others, and for Brentford City forward man, Ivan Toney, the fixture against Manchester City on Saturday mattered more than most games after the player stole all 3 points from the Etihad and back to London.

Prior to the game, the Englishman had seen his fine form for the premier league side this season snubbed by a Gareth Southgate who refused adding him up to the World Cup squad of the England national team.

The Manchester City fixture which ironically came right after the England squad list was announced came as the perfect opportunity for Ivan Toney to make his feelings known as he marshaled a 2-1 victory for the bees against a Cityzen side with a large crop of players going to the World Cup.

Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, has shared strategies for defeating Manchester City.

Toney was commenting after the Bees defeated the champions 2-1 on Saturday thanks to two goals.

“What we’re doing week in, week out on the training pitch, we can do things like this,” Toney told BT Sport.

“They might be Man City but they’re humans and humans can lose games. Dedication and wanting to work hard for each other, we showed that today and I think we deserved the three points at the end.”

Prior to the World Cup break, Arsenal already has a five-point lead over the Premier League champions after their 2-0 victory over Wolves.

On Christmas Day, Mikel Arteta’s side would occupy the top spot at the table for the first time in 15 years.

For a proclaimed Liverpool fan, Ivan Toney would cherish the 3 points he could steal from the Etihad on the day to further sting Manchester City’s premier league title ambitions.
