"It's what I am scared of" — John Cena

Larger-than-life WWE icon and Hollywood star, John Cena has always been known for his unyielding determination and larger-than-life persona.

However, behind the tough exterior lies a man grappling with a deeply personal fear—one that he recently shared in a candid interview with Club Shay Shay.

At 47 years old, John Cena opened up about his apprehension toward parenthood, revealing that he might never be ready to embrace the role of a father, a decision that could shape the rest of his life.

Cena, who has been married twice but has no children, spoke openly about his internal struggle. “My biggest fear is I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it takes to be a great parent,” he admitted. This fear is not born out of a lack of desire but rather a recognition of the immense commitment that parenting demands—something Cena feels he may not be able to give fully.

His first marriage to Elizabeth Huberdeau in 2009 ended in divorce just three years later, with no children. His second marriage, to Shay Shariatzadeh, has been a source of happiness, yet the couple has had open discussions about the prospect of children.

Despite their strong relationship, John Cena remains hesitant about fatherhood.

“I still have a lot to do and I still want to do a lot,” he explained, indicating that his ongoing career ambitions play a significant role in his reluctance to start a family.

Cena’s admission touches on a broader, often unspoken issue faced by many successful individuals—the challenge of balancing a demanding career with the responsibilities of parenthood.

For Cena, who has built a life of discipline, hard work, and relentless pursuit of goals, the idea of not being able to give his all to his child is daunting.

“It’s a tough subject to talk about because it immediately puts you in a category. People tend to judge. Human nature, we are all judgmental. But I operate under the construct that everyone is okay living their lives,” Cena shared, reflecting his philosophy of personal choice and self-acceptance.
