It’s Crazy to Think Tottenham Hotspur are in a Race—Antonio Conte

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Antonio Conte cut a frustrated figure after journalists suggested the North London team were part of the title race marshaled by Arsenal this season.

The Italian manager who is no stranger to giving out his honest opinion following a frustrating result in games, gave one of those when asked to analyze his Tottenham Hotspur team after their defeat to Aston Villa in the premier league.

Antonio Conte, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, called out the idea that they could win the Premier League this year as “ridiculous”, noting how Spurs were deserved 4th place or 5th place merchants giving their current performances.

Antonio Conte made his remarks on January 1 after his team lost to Aston Villa 2-0 at home.

Spurs’ hold on fourth place was loosened as Emi Buendia and Douglas Luiz scored.

They are now behind Manchester United, who have a game remaining and a two-point lead.

The team of Conte is also 13 points behind league-leading and bitter rival Arsenal.

“I remember very well in the summer, at the start, people talked about Tottenham as title contenders but in my experience, it was a bit crazy to read this,” Conte said.

“To become a title contender, you need to have a solid foundation. That means to have 14 or 15 strong players, quality and the other young players to develop.”

It is very much obvious that Conte’s remarks are directed at the club’s board as opposed to the individual performances of the team, considering the Italian has been vocal of Tottenham Hotspur not going after any targets in the transfer window.
