It was never a committed relationship, Antonio Conte gone

In a move that would be considered least shocking, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has announced that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement.

The decision was taken after a meeting between the Club’s hierarchy and the Italian coach, who arrived at Tottenham last summer, replacing Jose Mourinho.

Conte’s departure comes after a mixed season for Tottenham, who currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League, five points adrift of the top four. Although Tottenham reached the final of the Carabao Cup, where they lost to Manchester City, they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Everton at the fifth round stage.

However, the club did achieve Champions League qualification in Conte’s first season in charge, which was seen as a significant achievement given the competition for places at the top of the Premier League table.

In a statement released by the Club, Chairman Daniel Levy said:

“We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Levy added, “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

Following Conte’s departure, Cristian Stellini, who was part of the Italian coach’s coaching staff, will take over as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, with former Tottenham player Ryan Mason appointed as his assistant.

Stellini, who has previously worked with Conte at Inter Milan, said: “It’s an honour to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur. We have a talented squad and I’m confident that we can achieve our goals this season. I would like to thank Antonio for his work and for bringing me to this great Club.”

Tottenham’s next game is a crucial Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Sunday, where Stellini and Mason will be in charge for the first time. It remains to be seen who will be appointed as Conte’s permanent successor, with several names already being linked with the job.

Fans of the club have expressed their shock and disappointment at Antonio Conte departing the club, with many taking to social media to thank him for his contributions and wishing him all the best for the future. Tottenham’s hierarchy will now have to act fast to find a suitable replacement ahead of the new season.

The football world saw this coming the minute Antonio Conte started hitting out at the club in press conferences.
