Israel strikes Lebanon again, hits Beirut

The violence heightens as Israel continues its war on Hezbollah.
In the early hours of Thursday, Israel launched a precision airstrike on Beirut, killing at least six people and wounding seven in what is being described as one of the most significant attacks in the region.
The strike hit a building in the Bachoura district, the closest Israeli assault has ever come to Beirut’s central downtown area. The operation followed Israel’s deadliest day on the Lebanese front in over a year, with Iran-backed Hezbollah suffering a major blow—the death of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

Nasrallah’s elimination marks a significant setback for Iran’s most powerful proxy in the Middle East, as Hezbollah, along with Iran’s regional allies like Yemen’s Houthis, has been involved in retaliatory strikes in support of Hamas in Gaza. Missiles also struck the southern Dahiyeh suburb, a Hezbollah stronghold, adding to the night of chaos and fear.
The Houthis have ramped up their involvement by launching drone strikes on Tel Aviv, further complicating the already volatile situation as the Middle East braces for what could be a broader conflict.
As U.N. special coordinator Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert highlighted, the residents of Beirut are living in perpetual anxiety, with no clear sense of what comes next in this unfolding crisis.
