According to The Sun, renowned for his roles in the “Kick-Ass” and Marvel film franchises, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has purportedly been “formally offered the job” to portray Agent 007, a role previously held by Daniel Craig.
Daniel Craig bid farewell to the James Bond role in 2021 after an illustrious tenure spanning five films over 16 years, with the latest installment being “No Time to Die.”
As anticipation builds for the 26th Bond film, discussions regarding Taylor-Johnson’s potential casting have emerged.
However, Eon Productions, responsible for the Bond franchise, declined to comment on the speculation, stating their policy of refraining from addressing rumors.
Nevertheless, a production insider informed BBC News that there is “no truth in the rumors” surrounding Taylor-Johnson’s purported casting.
The actor himself has responded to the speculation in a recent interview with Numero magazine, expressing his appreciation for being considered for the role.
“I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role,” Taylor-Johnson remarked, interpreting the rumors as a “great compliment.”
At 33 years old, Taylor-Johnson, known for his portrayal of John Lennon in the biopic “Nowhere Boy” (2009), has emerged as the frontrunner among bookmakers to take on the iconic role of James Bond.
His diverse acting portfolio includes acclaimed performances in “Nocturnal Animals,” for which he received a Golden Globe in 2017, as well as roles in “Anna Karenina,” “Godzilla,” and “Tenet.”
