Instagram introduces ‘Best Practices’ hub to guide content creators

Published

on

Instagram has launched a new feature called “best practices” aimed at providing clearer guidelines for content creators, businesses, and professional users.

The hub, available through the professional dashboard, offers tips on creating engaging content and strategies for monetizing videos and photos.

The advice includes general social media strategies, such as tracking follower growth and posting consistently.

However, some suggestions are more specific, hinting at Instagram’s priorities. For example, one tip warns that Reels longer than 90 seconds won’t be recommended to new users, potentially limiting discovery.

This aligns with Instagram head Adam Mosseri’s previous emphasis on short-form content, a clear move to compete with TikTok.

While these guidelines offer useful insights for creators looking to maximize reach, they also introduce potential pressure to adhere strictly to Instagram’s preferences.

The platform recently told creators that “views” are now the primary metric for performance, along with how often content is shared.

Mosseri advises creators not to “force” viral content but rather focus on natural engagement.
