Mbappe Is Too Explosive—Joe Cole

Imagine of Kalvin Philips was Mbappe, Real Madrid fans…

You talk about the transfer saga that stung Real Madrid and its fans the most then you have no need to look further than the Mbappe saga.

It was a deal that read ‘done’ till it ended undone. Many theories were created, opinions formed, the whys were asked but all falls down to one logical conclusion; Money.

But in the case of a certain Leeds United midfielder, Kalvin Philips, the reverse is the case and this time, the passion for the game prevails over the lust for money.

If Only Kalvin Philips was Mbappe

The former Leeds United player at intervals of the transfer window was wildly speculated for a Manchester City move after his stellar season with the Yorkshire team last season.

Aside the speculated move to City, other clubs were vying for a move for the English midfielder, one of them who was working in the low was West Ham United, who by their own standards did quite well too last season.

The club almost made it into Europe and very nearly beat Manchester City to hand the title to Liverpool after leading with 2 goals up at half time only to end up drawing the game.

The London outfit had big dreams, high ones but for some reasons, they ended up falling too short.

Same pattern would see itself play out with the Kalvin Philips transfer sag as West Ham coach, David Moyes reveals that the club very nearly got the England International.

He revealed that the London club bid higher than Manchester City did in the window for Philips. “We bid more than that,” he said.

Going further, Moyes states that West Ham are willing to play ball with the big guns and would go whatever way it could to prove it.

“We’re trying to be competitive with the big teams. If we can’t, we have to find another way of keeping up with them.” the Scot said.

If by keeping up, it means going after who they are going after, then the Premier League is in for a classic underdog versus favorites tale next season.
