If I speak, I am in trouble — Jose Mourinho on AS Roma
‘If I speak, I am in trouble’ — those words have grown very well to become a famous quote attributed to Jose Mourinho during his time as Chelsea boss.
However, the current AS Roma manager has come up with that same line to describe his feelings about the previous Europa League final defeat against La Liga side, Sevilla.
According to Jose Mourinho, discussing his feelings about the final in the media could risk him a 10-match ban, and fair play to the former Tottenham Hotspur boss, his criticism of the match official in that final, Anthony Taylor cost him a 4-match ban in UEFA matches.
The Europa League final versus Sevilla stands as the Portuguese’s first and only European final defeat in his managerial career.
Jose Mourinho had left the pitch furious with referee Anthony Taylor after the final, with the Roma boss making a remark of the Englishman seeming “Spanish” in his criticism of Taylor.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager was also reported to have confronted the matchday officials in the stadium car park to label them as “f***ing crooks” after the defeat, which resulted in the 4-match ban.
Speaking of the game on Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho said;
“Winning the Europa League with Manchester United was a normal feeling for me,”
“But, Roma-Sevilla… if I say what I think I will get banned for 10 games.”
