Ibadan residents take to the streets in protest against ‘Starvation’
The high cost of living continues to hit Nigerian citizens around the corners of the nation, with Ibadan residents of Oyo State taking to the street to protest against the current administration of Bola Tinubu.
The protest in Oyo followed similar demonstrations in Kano and Minna, where citizens expressed their grievances over the removal of petrol subsidy and the soaring prices of essential commodities.
Reports indicate that the protest occurred in the Mokola area of Ibadan, the state capital, with youths wielding placards and chanting slogans to convey their message.
Among the messages displayed on the placards were demands to “End food hike and inflation” and expressions of concern over the plight of the poor, with slogans like “The poor are starving.”
Additionally, there were reminders to political figures, such as “Tinubu, don’t forget your promises.”
Despite the peaceful nature of the demonstration, armed police officers were present at the protest venue, as reported by Channels Television.
