I Will Be Retiring From Acting—Funke Akindele

There’s passion, then there’s commitment, and most of all, there is Funke Akindele, and for the Nollywood actress, she isn’t ready to blur the lines between politics and acting as she reveals she would be focusing on one going into the coming elections in 2023.

The Nigerian actress out of a number of candidates was selected to be the running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State.

Given that Funke is running to become the next deputy governor of Lagos State, her decision to leave the film industry is not entirely implausible.

She claims that she is handing the reins over to the new people, but she will continue to guide and watch over them in the background.

The actress now turned politician Funke Akindele known to some as Jenifa from her Jenifa’s diaries series has reaffirmed her intention to leave Nollywood and concentrate on her political career.

It is no longer a secret that Funke Akindele said she was prepared to pay the price of entering politics, which will temporarily put her career in the Nollywood business on hold when she announced her PDP deputy governorship bid in July.

The Nigerian actress claimed that her most recent film, Battle on Buka Streets, is her final one before delving fully into politics in an interview with Punch’s Deji Lambo.
