Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record for the most goals scored in a single Saudi Pro League season. The Portuguese international achieved this milestone with a brace in Luis Castro’s side’s 4-2 victory over Al-Ittihad in their final league game on Monday.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the third minute of first-half stoppage time and added his second goal midway through the second half to make it 2-0.
His teammate Abdulrahman Ghareeb then extended the lead to three goals. Although Al-Ittihad managed to pull two goals back, Al-Nassr sealed the win with a late strike from Meshari Al-Nemer, ending their league campaign on a high note.
Following the match, Ronaldo took to Instagram to express his satisfaction, stating,
“I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”
With his brace, Ronaldo’s goal tally for the season reached 35, surpassing the previous record of 34 goals set by Abderrazak Hamdallah during the 2018–19 season. Ronaldo’s remarkable achievement underscores his enduring prowess on the field and his significant impact in the Saudi Pro League.
