Ex-Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday, declared that he had once been tested positive for the coronavirus.
He stated that 72 hours later, he tested negative.
Obasanjo, who clocked 84 today, announced this during his birthday, saying, “It will surprise you that I was tested positive for COVID-19.
“I called them to come and test me, they came on a Saturday, I didn’t get the result until Wednesday and it came out positive but I didn’t see any symptoms.
“They came three days after they tested me and said I am negative – that is three days after I tested positive.
“My daughter, Iyabo is an epidemiologist and I called her to explain, she said maybe they tested me at the later stage of my being positive.
“I told her that I had no symptoms and she said it could be a faulty result.
“But I was tested positive. Since then, I have tested three times negative; so, if you want to come near me, you can come near me.
“It is nothing to worry about, when I was tested positive, my household was running from me, I told them to stay in their place while I stay in mine.”
Similarly, Ex-President Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan congratulated former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the event of his 84th birthday.
Dr Jonathan portrayed Chief Obasanjo as an honest patriot and showed gratitude to God for his life and all the great things he has accomplished.
In a benevolence message he personally signed, former President Jonathan said, “As you mark this occasion of your 84th birthday, I join your family, friends and well-wishers to thank Almighty God for a fulfilling and highly eventful life.
“You are a sincere patriot who has sacrificed so much to the growth and development of our dear country. Your leadership, both as a military Head of State and President at different periods produced landmark achievements in uniting and deepening the bond that holds together our diverse country.
“Baba, you are a great African who has contributed so much to the consolidation of laudable regional and sub-regional initiatives on the continent. You will continue to remain relevant to the task of nation-building, especially in this period when the peace and stability in many African nations are greatly challenged.
“We pray to God to protect and strengthen you to enable you to continue to lend your experience and wisdom to the development impetus of our dear country, Nigeria.”
