I stabbed, didn’t kill my Nigerian girlfriend – Chinese lover
Frank Geng-Quangrong, a 47-year-old Chinese lover who is facing trial for culpable homicide, admitted before a Kano State High Court that he stabbed his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani, 22, with a knife.
However, he claimed that he had no intention of killing her. Geng-Quangrong, who works as a marketing and sales manager at the BBY Textile Company in Kano, earning a monthly salary of N1.5 million, told the court that Sani pushed him onto the bed and he stabbed her without intending to kill her.
“I escaped from the room through the window because the door was locked from the outside and wanted to take Sani to the hospital but the police promptly arrived and arrested me,” Geng-Quangrong said.
During the trial, the defendant had earlier claimed that Sani injured him on his genitals.
To back his claim, Geng-Quangrong’s defence counsel, Muhammad Dan’azumi, presented a urologist, Abdullahi Abubakar, who told the court that the testicle is more sensitive than other body parts and when it is pulled, it can cause inflammation and other health issues.
“I retired in 2018 but I am still in active practice. In the human body, the testicle is more sensitive because it has sensory nerves when it is pulled, fright, fight and the flight will occur and cause inflammation problems and may cause erectile dysfunction and urinary problems.
“As a result, the blood pressure will drop, there will be a low level of oxygen in the brain and the patient may faint or get shocked, so in order to survive the action, you try to fight the situation,” he said.
The prosecution, represented by Kano State Director of Public Prosecution, Aisha Mahmoud, alleged that the defendant, who pleaded not guilty, stabbed the deceased with a knife on September 16, 2022, at her house in Janbulo Quarters, Kano.
The offence contravened the provisions of Section 221(b) of the Penal Code.
The trial is set to continue on April 6, 2023, for cross-examination and continuation of defence.
The presiding judge, Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji, ordered the defence counsel to provide the prosecution with their witness list and a medical dictionary.
