I Spent N52m On ‘Like’ Featuring Davido, Kizz Daniel – Iyanya

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, recently took to Twitter to reveal the exorbitant amount of money he spent to produce and promote his recent track.

The ‘Kukere’ singer, who was speaking on the high cost of promoting a song in Nigeria, disclosed that he spent a whopping N52 million to record, shoot the music video and promote his hit single ‘Like’, which featured music superstars, Davido and Kizz Daniel.

Iyanya’s revelation has sparked a conversation about the cost of producing and promoting music in Nigeria, with many artists expressing their frustration with the exorbitant cost.

Iyanya, who has been in the music industry for over a decade, also disclosed that the least amount he has spent to promote a song since 2021 is N27 million.

The singer went on to advise upcoming artists to be prepared to spend a lot of money to promote their music, as it is an essential part of the industry.

He added that any artist who is lucky enough to have their song go viral without paid promotions should be thankful.

 

In a series of tweets, he wrote,

“Promoting music has become very expensive, if you are lucky to get a song go viral make you Thank God.”

“The cheapest I have spent on a song since January 2021 is 27m.

When I dropped “LIKE” FT Davido and kizz Daniel, we spent 52 million, song, Video and promotion.

This should not discourage any up-and-coming artiste, you can do it, all you need it’s consistency.”

Iyanya’s revelation has sparked a lot of reactions on social media, with many fans and followers commending him for his honesty and transparency.
