“I see Zidane going to Manchester United” — Baptista
Julio Baptista, former Brazil international, has thrown his support behind Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid manager, to potentially helm Manchester United in the future.
The assertion comes amidst uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag, the current manager of Manchester United, following a challenging season for the club.
Despite finishing third in the previous season and clinching the Carabao Cup while also making it to the FA Cup final, Ten Hag’s tenure has been marred by 16 defeats across various competitions this campaign.
Amidst speculations regarding potential successors for the managerial position at Old Trafford, Zidane’s name has emerged as a prominent candidate.
Baptista, who shared the pitch with Zidane during his playing days, expressed his confidence in the Frenchman’s managerial prowess, citing his remarkable achievements, including multiple Champions League triumphs with Real Madrid.
In an interview with Ladbrokes (via Metro), Baptista conveyed his admiration for Zidane, labeling him as the best player he ever played alongside.
He emphasized the significance of their shared dressing room experience and hailed Zidane’s coaching acumen, underlining his belief that the legendary midfielder possesses the qualities to excel as a Premier League manager.
“I think he will be a Premier League manager someday. He is an incredible coach, with amazing experience having won the Champions League, so I can see that happening. I can see him going to Manchester United.”
Baptista’s endorsement adds fuel to the speculation surrounding Zidane’s potential move to a premier league club and also more narratives on Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.
