I Pity Arsenal -- Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson

Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson has expressed his sympathy for their North-London opponents, Arsenal ahead of their weekend fixture in the premier league.

According to the former England coach, he feels a lot of sympathy for the Gunners over their failure to win the league against their title rivals, Manchester City.

The 2022/23 premier league campaign famously ended with Arsenal failing to put a halt to Manchester City’s dominance in the league, with the Cityzens coming from behind to clinch a third consecutive league title.

The Crystal Palace manager also expressed his admiration for Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta and what he has done with the Gunners so far at the Emirates.

Arsenal this weekend will be coming to Selhurst Park, home ground of Crystal Palace to renew premier league hostilities in what is a mini-London derby for both clubs on Monday night.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, Roy Hodgson discussed the shortcoming of the Arsenal team last season and about Mikel Arteta, he said;

“I have great admiration for the job he’s done at Arsenal,”

“I thought last season they were outstanding in every respect.

“I have a lot of sympathy, to get that close and do so well and be overtaken by the machine, Manchester City, who are also a wonderful football team. It must have been a gut-wrenching occasion…,” the manager sympathized.
