“I hope Liverpool wins the EPL” — Griezmann amidst United links

Manchester United fans may not like what potential signing, Antoine Griezmann has to say about arch rivals, Liverpool.
Amid ongoing speculation about his future, Atletico Madrid’s 32-year-old forward, Antoine Griezmann, has emerged as a target for Manchester United, with talks reportedly underway between the player’s representatives and the English club.
Griezmann, having scored 13 goals across various competitions this season, has caught the eye of United as they seek to bolster their attacking options. Reports from El Nacional suggest that United delegates have traveled to Madrid for negotiations to secure a potential deal.
In a bid to entice the player, Manchester United is allegedly prepared to substantially increase Griezmann’s salary to €21 million [£18.4m] annually, a figure significantly higher than his earnings during his stint at Barcelona.
With a reported release clause of £22 million, Griezmann’s potential move to the Premier League has been a topic of speculation for some time.
In a previous interview with Sky Sports in 2019, the former Real Sociedad striker revealed that he had contemplated a Premier League move, citing a close brush with the idea but ultimately choosing to remain in Spain due to his comfort in La Liga.
“I was having a lot of fun in La Liga,” he stated, emphasizing the appeal of the Spanish lifestyle, adding, “We have one thing the Premier League does not – the sun.”
Moreover, Griezmann expressed admiration for a particular English club, highlighting Liverpool, largely due to the fervor of their fanbase.
“In terms of teams I admire, I have to say Liverpool because of the fans,” he acknowledged, expressing hope for their future success in the league.
