“I have no doubt we’ll make it” — Andre Onana, Maguire react to UCL win
Manchester United’s Andre Onana and Harry Maguire received a heartwarming standing ovation from the elated Stretford End faithful as they departed the field following a crucial victory over Copenhagen in the Champions League.
Manchester United managed to secure their maiden points of this season’s Champions League campaign, clinching a 1-0 victory against a resilient Copenhagen side on Tuesday.
The game’s turning point arrived in the 72nd minute when Harry Maguire expertly headed the ball into the net, providing a much-needed breakthrough for the Red Devils.
However, the match took a dramatic twist during stoppage time when Scott McTominay’s challenge resulted in a penalty for Copenhagen.
McTominay, who had reason to be concerned after his late blunder, was spared embarrassment when Andre Onana delivered a spectacular save, denying Jordan Larsson from the spot.
Following their heroic contributions, both Maguire and Onana left the field simultaneously, speaking to TNT Sports before heading down the tunnel.
Reflecting on his decisive penalty save, Onana modestly remarked,
“Just doing my job. We are Manchester United, a very big club, I have no doubt we’ll make it out of the Champions League group.”
Harry Maguire in his candid assessment of the match, admitted,
“The first half was really poor, but we came out in the second half a lot better.”
