I can’t understand why Manchester City will let him go, Paul Merson says while trying to understand the situation that will force the Etihad club to sell Raheem Sterling.

If there is any summer transfer the pundit does not quite get, it definitely is the Sterling to Chelsea.

This is mainly because, the former Arsenal man believes the move weakens the Cityzens and further strengthens the rivals who are close to proving a challenge to the sky blues.

The Arsenal legend while speaking on the transfer, says he is as flabbergasted as anyone that a player as important as Raheem Sterling to City will be allowed to join rivals, Chelsea.

The Chelsea unveiling of Sterling came a few days ago to quite a number of public opinions, some positive with a few mixed.

On the development, Paul Merson said as quoted by a sports outlet:

“Raheem Sterling is another player I would like to touch upon and I think he could well turn out to be the new signing who impresses the most this season.

“I’m flabbergasted that Manchester City let him go to a Premier League rival – now they will have to rely on Jack Grealish to get into the box and replicate his end product in front of goal.”

With Sterling and Gabriel Jesus being allowed to leave Manchester City for their rivals this summer, it will be interesting how the coming campaign turns out.
