I Can’t Re-Join England Unless—Raheem Sterling Opens Up
Raheem Sterling, an English attacker, would only re-join the team for the 2022 World Cup when his family’s safety is ensured.
On Saturday night, as Sterling was getting ready for the Three Lions’ match against Senegal in Qatar, his Surrey home was broken into.
When the burglary occurred, the Chelsea star’s partner Paige and their children were not at home.
After the upsetting event, the 27-year-old took a flight back to the UK on Sunday to be with his family.
Gareth Southgate, England’s manager, said after England’s 3-0 victory over Senegal that Sterling will be given “as much time as he needs” before rejoining the team.
Raheem Sterling will decide whether to go back to Qatar after putting his family’s security first.
In a report made public to the media,
“Raheem has told everyone, ‘There is no way I’m going anywhere unless I’m 100 percent sure that my family can be kept safe’.”
On Saturday, the World Cup quarterfinal between England and France will take place.
