I can’t afford to pay my four drivers N100k monthly – SGF George Akume laments
The secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume has cried out about thr minimum wage increase demanded by the Organised Labour.
TopNaija gathered that, Akume, while speaking during a meeting with the National Executive Council, NEC of the Christian Association of Nigerian, NEC in Abuja on Thursday, addressed the Christian community for supporting the tripartite Committee on minimum wage as negotiations continues.
According to George Akume, paying a minimum wage of N100,000 to his drivers will be a difficult responsibility.
“I can’t afford to pay my driver one hundred thousand because they are four,” Akume lamented. “And these other people, dependents.”
He went on to complain about the demands being made by the organised labour, adding, “Where do we get that money from?”
Akume also stated that the organised labour committed treason by shutting down the national grid during the nationwide strike.
