"I am Sorry" -- Erik ten Hag to Manchester United fans

“Eras do come to an end,” Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag had said when he was first appointed as United boss last season in reaction to the era of dominance of City rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, 2 years into his tenure as the Red Devils’ boss, the narratives have taken a drastic shift as Man United in the space of days have last to 2 consecutive 0-3 defeats at home in the premier league to Manchester City, and in the Carabao Cup to Newcastle United.

The Red Devils home that once stood a fortress and a theatre of dreams now stands a river for opponents to swim in and a nightmare for Manchester United to dread playing in.

Of all the seasons that could have faced Erik ten Hag, the 2023/24 campaign has started in the worst way possible for the Dutchman.

Speaking after the match, the former Ajax boss had a lot to say to the United fanbase following the 0-3 humiliation.

Taking to the podium in front of journalists, Erik ten Hag took responsibility for the defeat, saying;

“I take responsibility — but I see it as a challenge. I have to stick together with my players and fight together,”

The Dutchman went on to assure fans of better days ahead stating;

“I’m a fighter. I’m confident I can do it, but it’s clear that at this moment we are in a bad place

“We know that this is not good enough. I have to take responsibility. I feel sorry, really sorry for the fans”.

“Players will stand up. They are sticking together, you seen they tried. You’ve to do it as a team. Only way”.

“Everyone has to take responsibility, be accountable and co-operate. That’s the key word for all of us”.
