Hushpuppi: Abba Kyari breaks silence as IGP receives his probe report

Usman Baba, Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police has received the report of the Special Investigation Panel on the alleged indictment of the erstwhile Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, a deputy commissioner of police, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

 

The freshly submitted report was put in by the chairman of the SIP, DIG Joseph Egbunike, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Thursday.

A statement by the force spokesman, Frank Mba, titled, ‘IG receives panel report on DCP Abba Kyari,’ said Egbunike appreciated the IG for the confidence reposed in him and the members of the panel.

He noted that the panel commenced investigations immediately it was inaugurated on August 2, “and the report submitted is an outcome of a painstaking, transparent and exhaustive investigative process.”

He further revealed that the report contained the case file of the probe, evidences and findings as well as testimonies from Kyari and other persons and groups linked to the matter.

The statement said, “The IGP, who commended the panel for the work done, stated that the essence of the probe was to carry out discrete investigations into the allegation levied against the officer to enable the Force leadership be appropriately guided in its decision-making processes.

“The IGP assured that a careful and expeditious review of the recommendations would be undertaken by the Force Management Team and thereafter, forwarded to appropriate quarters for necessary action(s). He reiterated as always, the commitment of the Force to justice for all.”

Meanwhile, earlier today, Abba Kyari took to his verified Facebook page with over 450,000 followers as he shared a 21-second hilarious TikTok video posted by one Sanda Tobacco wherein a cart pusher was videoed displaying some roller skating skills while the videographer laughingly said the cart pusher “is very crazy wallahi!”.

Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent, Andrew Innocenti, in a document titled, ‘Criminal Complaint By Telephone Or Other Reliable Electronic Means’ filed before the United States District Court for the Central District of California, had alleged that Hushpuppi contracted the services of Kyari after a “co-conspirator,” Chibuzo Vincent allegedly threatened to expose the alleged $1.1m fraud committed against a Qatari businessman.
