Husband remanded for allegedly killing 24-year-old wife

A man, 33 years old, was sent to jail for killing Suliyat, his 24-year-old wife.

The man, identified as Kabiru Arewa was sent to a prison by an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday.

Arewa, whose address was not provided, was charged with murder.

The defendant’s plea was turned down because the Magistrate, Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun, did not have the power to hear it.

He told the police to give the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) so that the DPP could give legal advice. The case was then put off until June 28 to be discussed.

At first, the prosecutor, ASP Anthony Igori, told the court that the crime was committed by the suspect on May 22 around 8 p.m. in the Olunloyo area of Ibadan.

Igori said the defendant didn’t have to hit his wife in the chest with his hand, which killed her.

He said that the crime was against Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
