How we reacted in the dressing room -- Martin Odegaard reveals

Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard has opened up on the mood in the dressing room following their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday, revealing that the players were down after the heavy loss.

Despite the defeat, Martin Odegaard insisted that the Gunners must stick together and keep pushing, as anything is possible in football.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Odegaard said, “I think everyone [in the dressing room] is down now. We wanted to come here and get something. We just have to stick together and keep pushing. It’s disappointing. I don’t have an answer to why today was this. We should’ve won more duels, compete better and when we have the ball do more as well.”

Arsenal travelled to the Etihad Stadium with hopes of securing a victory that would have strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League table. However, they were unable to cope with the combination of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, who both put in outstanding performances for City.

De Bruyne opened the scoring with a stunning finish inside Aaron Ramsdale’s near post, before setting up John Stones to nod one home before the break. The Belgian then added a second with a brilliant curling effort around the hour mark, with Haaland wrapping up the victory in stoppage time after Holding’s consolation.

The defeat has left Arsenal fans disappointed and rueing their missed opportunities to secure wins in their previous matches against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton.

Despite this setback, Martin Odegaard insisted that the Gunners still have a chance to win the title and must focus on doing their part in the remaining matches. Arsenal remain two points clear of Manchester City, although Guardiola’s men have two games in hand over the north London side. Fulham and West Ham are up next in the league for Arsenal.
