how to rise above mediocrity

Published

on

People living a mediocre life are those who choose to not give their best, to not share the full measure of our gifts and talent and to shun opportunities for personal growth and development but guess what? You can live it forward and break free from mediocrity so that you can experience your best life.

The following 3 steps should help.

See great things.

You get what you expect in life. Your expectations shape your vision. This means if you expect life to be monotonous and mediocre, you will see monotony and mediocrity everywhere you look. However, if you expect exciting and positive opportunities, you will see exciting and positive opportunities everywhere, even in the midst of challenges and struggles.

Ask great questions.

Since honest, self-evaluation is a major key to success, it’s important to ask yourself on a regular basis how you’re doing. And don’t be content with: “I’m fine.” Mediocrity and complacency are not the same but they both can be disguised as contentment. Contentment is good because it usually means you are grateful. We are creatures of comfort. It’s understandable to get comfortable with your surroundings for instance. The problem is when we stop pushing ourselves to be the best we can possibly be. When you are too comfortable, you stop achieving. Mediocrity and complacency are definitely not good because it usually a sign of laziness and not living up to your potential. Be sure to go deeper with your self-evaluation and ask yourself if you are truly content or actually complacent.

Take great actions.

As the saying goes, “A one hundred mile journey begins with just a single step.” If you want to live your best life, then live it forward every day by taking one step of action in the direction you want to go.
