How SARS arrested fleeing kidnappers suspects in Imo
Officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command have apprehended the fleeing members of a kidnap syndicate headed by the slain Chijioke Onyeze, popularly known as Bracket, TopNaija reports.
The state Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, said the suspects, Edwin Ogbuji, 31, and Priscilla Sani, 42, were arrested by the SARS operatives in collaboration with the men of the command’s Counter Terrorism Unit. The CP stated that Ogbuji had confessed to being a member of Bracket’s gang running errands for the syndicate.
The police chief said, “Sequel to the murder of one Obioma Iheka on April 6, Maduakolam Nwoguzo on May 14, and Alozie Amadi on June 4 by Chijioke Onyeze, aka Bracket, in an operation around the Ohaji forest by the operatives of the 34 Field Artillery Brigade, Obinze, the SARS operatives were charged to fish out other members of the dreaded gang.
“In collaboration with the operatives of the command’s Counter Terrorism Unit, the SARS operatives arrested one Edwin Ogbuji, 33, and one Priscilla Sani, 42, of Ihie in the Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State.
“Edwin Ogbuji has confessed to being a member of the gang, who ran errands for Bracket. Also, Pricilla Sani was used by the gang in sending money and other logistics, including information to Bracket, in his hide out. The arrested suspects will be charged as soon as investigation into the case is completed.”
