It is no longer news that Barbadian singer, actress, fashion designer, and businesswoman, Rihanna is officially a billionaire, and also the wealthiest female musician in the world.

What TopNaija finds striking is how she created such wealth with little help from her music career.

According to Forbes, the 33-year-old singer is now worth $1.7 billion (£1.2 billion), primarily thanks to the value of her industry-shaking cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty, which is estimated to be worth $1.4 billion.

Rihanna has also earned the rest of her fortune from her lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, which is reportedly valued at $270m (£193m), and from her earnings as a musician and actor. The company’s profits have made Rihanna the wealthiest woman in music, and the second-richest woman in entertainment behind Oprah Winfrey.

Fenty Beauty was reportedly racking in $550 million during its first calendar year in 2018, beating out other celebrity lines like Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics and Kim Kardashian West’s KKW Beauty.

Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty line has also proven to be a success, raising $115 million in funding this past February at a $1 billion valuation.

The mogul’s fortune comes five years since Rihanna released an album, and despite fans endlessly calling on the singer to release new music.
