Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers said to be terrorising residents of Kwamba in the Suleja Local Government Area of the state, TopNaija reports.

The suspects–Chinonso Ofor, 23; Chukwu Gabriel, 21; Patrick Nnaji, 32; and Franklin Madu, 22, all from Abuja – were reportedly arrested on May 19 while trying to flee a crime scene.

It was learnt that policemen from Suleja recently arrested the suspects on getting information that they snatched N5.5m from a worker of a firm located in Suleja while he was on his way to deposit the money at a commercial bank.

The police said the suspects mentioned one Chukwudi of Apo, Federal Capital Territory, who is at large, as a member of their gang.

One of the suspects, Madu, told our correspondent that he and his gang members had robbed many residents of their belongings.

He said, “We usually robbed people at Kwamba and Suleja areas but our operations were frustrated by the policemen who apprehended us.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said operatives were on the arrest the fleeing suspect.

He added that the operatives recovered one locally-made pistol, one live ammunition and one Mazda 626 vehicle with registration number KWL101FP from the suspects. The suspects are set to be charged to court after investigation.
