“How my brother died in the explosion at Ibadan” – Survivor

One of the survivors of the massive explosion that rocked the city of Ibadan, Adeleke, has narrated how he lost his brother in the tragic incident.

TopNaija had reported the devastating explosion that occurred in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday night, and it was gathered that no more than 10 individuals lost their lives and 77 others were injured in the explosion.

While speaking with a local broadcasting station, Lagelu FM, Adeleke revealed that him and his brother, Oladipupo were playing tennis at the hotel before his brother left to attend to something, and the explosion, which caused a stir, sent a sharp object that gave him a deep cut in the brother’s stomach.

He said that Oladipupo was rushed to the Adeoyo General Hospital immediately after the incident.

He said, “He came out to the front of the transformer where the incident happened. His intestines were out after the cut.”

Another survivor, Olaitan Okanlawon, said the incident happened around 7 pm after hearing a strange sound and vibration.

She added, “I was inside with my husband and kids. And we started hearing strange sounds and vibrations, it was not clear until we began to see rubbles, outside the window.

“One of my kids has a cut on his head and is being attended to, we have moved out our stuff to the hotel.”

In response to the tragedy, Seyi Makinde, the state governor, said early investigations by security agencies found that explosive devices hidden by illegal miners triggered the explosion that shook the region.

Makinde, who visited the explosion site Tuesday night, said that although additional investigations were underway, anybody found guilty would be prosecuted.
