A shocking news takes over the Nigerian entertainment scene as Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor famously known by his comic character, Mr. Ibu is confirmed dead by the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

The Nigerian entertainment industry was hit by the news as Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), revealed the cause of death of renowned Nollywood actor, John Okafor, widely known as Mr. Ibu.

In a somber Instagram post shared late on Saturday, Rollas disclosed that Mr. Ibu had “suffered a cardiac arrest,” shedding light on the tragic circumstances surrounding the actor’s passing.

Additionally, Rollas confirmed another blow to the industry, as he announced the loss of actress Kate Henshaw’s mother on the same day.

Expressing condolences and lamenting the dual losses, Rollas wrote,

“Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today, and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years, Mr. Don Single Nwuzor.”

Regrettably, Rollas concluded the announcement with the devastating news that Mr Ibu had not survived, stating,

“I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace.”

The passing of John Okafor, an endearing iconic figure in Nigerian cinema known for his humor and wits marks a significant loss for the Nollywood community.
