How Kylian Mbappe leaving PSG could affect Liverpool
The summer transfer window comes with a lot of drama, and 2023 summer has started on those terms following PSG forward, Kylian Mbappe penning a letter to the Ligue 1 club that came as a shocker.
The France International formally clarifies to PSG of his decision not to activate the extension clause to his current contract with the club, which will have placed him at Parc des Princes beyond next season.
This decision leaves PSG with no other choice but to think of what their losses could be moving forward with Mbappe. They are faced with either losing the number 7 on a free transfer which comes at a huge loss for them, or selling the Frenchman in the current transfer window to recoup at the very least some profit.
Following this debacle, one club could face an unlikely impact from any of this scenarios becoming a reality, and that is Liverpool.
As speculations go, the transfer rumors are building up on a certain Liverpool forward leaving the club following the Reds’ failure to make Champions League spot last season. And despite the player’s agent coming on social media to debunk the rumors, it’s never out of the realm of possibility for a transfer speculation to end up a reality.
Mohamed Salah could end up the unwitting victim in the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga should the Ligue 1 club make a late bid for the Egyptian that might end up all too tempting for both player and club.
Liverpool are looking forward to a rebuild under Jurgen Klopp, and as the transfer is going, we have seen the Reds’ management act very shrewd in the transfer market, unwilling to splash the cash in view of solidifying other key strengths in the team.
Should PSG come with a late bid worth huge profits to Liverpool after letting Kylian Mbappe leave for a cut throat sum, it shouldn’t be hard to see Liverpool’s owners, FSG tempted to let Mohamed Salah go.
