Konga,

Nigerian e-commerce giant Konga, on Monday announced their plans to build warehouses across Nigeria, so that it would reduce order to delivery times for its users. The warehouses aim to make order fulfillment for its about 60,000 merchants easier and more reliable.

Currently, merchants have up to three days to drop off their items at a distribution site, where Konga’s team will go on to deliver the item on their behalf. This new initiative will allow merchants to store their merchandise in Konga’s warehouses for onward delivery by its in-house fulfillment team. Konga envisages that the new warehousing project will reduce merchant order processing times from about 40 hours to 3 hours.

Tagged “Fulfilled by Konga”, the warehousing infrastructure will ensure that items can be selected and shipped on the order day.

According to the CEO of Konga  Mr. Shola Adekoya, he said, “Warehousing and distribution is notoriously challenging in Nigeria; we have set ourselves a Herculean task of building a network of technologically advanced warehousing sites across Nigeria, that will bring speedy, cost-efficient sales solutions for our growing number of merchants looking to do business online, and will act as a considerable boost to Nigeria’s growing e-commerce sector”.

Konga already has a flagship distribution centre in Lagos, an ultra-modern 60,000 sq ft space which houses over 200,000 items. With the launch of “Fulfilled by Konga”, the Lagos space will be doubled to 120,000 sq ft in 2017 in addition to new warehouses in Abuja and Port Harcourt.
